Can I fire work that I've made at home in the studio's kilns?

We have two kilns in our studio; if you would like to fire work you have made outside Clay Trap, we offer Glazing and Firing sessions. Initially you can drop your work in advance to be bisque fired, or bring along bisqued work. This will be a two hour guided session where you can glaze and decorate your work with our in-house glazes and oxides before the work gets fired in our kilns to either stoneware or earthenware temperatures.

We ask for proof of the clay(s) you have used, whether it is terracotta or stoneware and their advised firing temperatures.

If this is something you are interested in, then please contact us and we can provide further information.

How much experience do I need to use the open access sessions?

We ask that you are confident and self sufficient enough to work on your chosen project without the need for tuition. The sessions are supported by a technician who can guide you with best use of the studio equipment. The shared environment creates a supportive atmosphere where skills and techniques are often improved upon through discussion with other studio users.
